How comparisons are written

Every comparison on Email Tool Spot starts the same way: I open both tools, go through their pricing pages, sign up for free trials, and note what I find. I do not use AI to generate comparison text from scraped data. Each guide is individually written or at minimum individually reviewed before publishing.

The criteria I use:

  • Pricing model — per-contact vs per-volume vs flat-rate. Free-plan limits and upgrade triggers.
  • Automation depth — visual builder vs code-based. Trigger types, condition logic, multi-step flows.
  • Ecommerce fit — native Shopify/ WooCommerce integration quality. Abandoned cart recovery depth.
  • Deliverability — sender reputation tools, SPF/DKIM setup ease, bounce handling.
  • Ease of use — template editor, form builder, import/export tools, reporting dashboard.
  • Switching cost — migration tools, export options, learning curve.

I do not assign numerical scores, star ratings, or percentage rankings. They’re misleading and imply precision that doesn’t exist.

Pricing data

Pricing numbers on this site are checked against vendor pricing pages at the time of writing. I link to the official pricing page in every pricing guide so you can verify before buying.

Pricing changes frequently. If a price is wrong, email me and I’ll fix it — usually within a few days.

Corrections

If you find an error — a wrong price, an outdated feature list, a broken link — send the correction with a source link to v9nus@foxmail.com. Corrections are processed in order received. I don’t charge for corrections and I don’t require a backlink in exchange.

Sponsored content is clearly labeled with “Sponsored” at the top of the page. Sponsored placements do not influence non-sponsored comparison pages or pricing guides. Vendors cannot pay for positive editorial coverage in unlabeled sections of the site.

Affiliate disclosure

Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are disclosed inline.

Affiliate relationships do not determine which tools are covered or how they are compared. Tools are selected for coverage based on what real businesses use, not on commission rates.

Updates and freshness

The last-updated date appears at the bottom of each guide. If a page is more than 3 months old, the pricing and feature information may be out of date. Official vendor pricing pages should always be the final source before purchase.

Final verdict

Use the pricing notes, comparison paths, and alternatives to narrow the shortlist. The right email tool is the one that fits list size, workflow depth, ecommerce need, budget, and switching cost.
